Daniel Eltner

Design should touch an individual emotionally at a deep level and stir them into conscious response to the objects in their home.
This philosophy characterises the work of Daniel Eltner. For him, design is culturally and artistically inspired communication by means of aesthetic expression. For this the designed object should appeal to and stimulate the senses of a person as an aesthetic experience through that object and its related use. This presupposes that the objects possess a soul, a character and a distinct ability to communicate.
Each designed object must be autonomous, that means it must be perfect in shape, form and function. It should display original traits and a strong personality to assert itself against what is commonplace and to hold its own next to it. This results in a design of objects that is likewise very distinct and influences the person using them.
The products in the “style” range reflect this design philosophy in their design and as such also express a contemporary understanding of lifestyle that focuses on experiencing the environment through and with design.
Daniel Eltner has worked as an independent designer since 1994 with an emphasis on the set table and accessories sector for Walküre, Carl Mertens, Leonardo, Rosenthal, Moser and WMF. Since 1997 he has operated a joint studio with Lino Sabattini in Bregnano, Italy.
His products have received a number of design prizes amongst others from the Design Zentrum NRW Essen and through the Industrie Forum Design, Hanover. Further he was nominated for the design prize of the Federal Republic of Germany and has participated at numerous exhibitions.
