Whether it’s for an internship or a dissertation, a work placement or as an assistant at one of our stores, we offer plenty of opportunities to gain practical experience, even while you are still studying. Of course, we would be thrilled if you stayed with us after graduating, and joined our trainee programme for example or filled one of our vacancies for junior employees.
Strapped for cash, yet still haven’t bought Grandma’s Christmas present? No problem! When conducting our inventory, over Christmas and at other times, we often need extra help for short periods, be it for labelling goods or packing gifts. Many stores also need help on a part-time basis at other times of the year.
The list of current vacancies can be found on our jobs board. Alternatively, you can go and speak to the manager of the relevant store directly.
Internships & work placements
Preparation is everything. And there’s no better way to prepare than by gaining practical experience. We offer opportunities for student internships and longer-term work placements in many areas, from product management and personal development to international marketing. By tackling responsible projects yourself under qualified guidance, you will gain valuable experience to help you take that first post-graduation step into the employment market. Let us be your guide!
If you are interested in one of our internships, you should be in an advanced stage of your studies and have at least three months at your disposal. Those on a work placement typically spend about 20 hours a week working for us during term time.
A practice-based dissertation within the WMF is an excellent way to apply your newly-gained theoretical knowledge to the real world of work. As an internationally-operating company, we can offer many interesting and extremely challenging projects.
When applying, please tell us which area you are interested in. We’ll then try to find a suitable topic for your dissertation and let you know as quickly as possible whether your project is feasible in principle. In individual cases, we actively advertise dissertation positions, so feel free to consult our jobs board.
Are you a graduate looking for a systematic way in? Our commercial trainee programme, which focuses on controlling, will prepare you within just two years to take on further tasks within the WMF.
The content of the programme is flexible and determined by you and the relevant manager at the start. The relevant stations and periods are based on the tasks we assign you within the framework of the trainee programme. This ensures that you are not removed from ongoing projects, but can see them through to their successful completion.
Here are just some of the areas to which you might be assigned as a trainee:
- Group reporting and planning
- WMF controlling
- Consumer controlling
- Corporate accounting
- Accounting and taxation
- Inventory and stock
A broad-based programme of seminars, for instance on project management, supports you in developing your specialist skills. You'll also have introductory talks on the various interface areas and a chance to familiarise yourself with our core business at one of our stores during your first few weeks on the programme.
Many of our junior positions are also suitable for high school graduates to apply for directly. All our currently advertised vacancies can be found on our jobs board (target group: “Graduates”). We look forward to receiving your application.
Information on the selection procedure
After submitting your application, you are immediately sent an automatic confirmation of receipt. We then check your documents thoroughly.
If you are shortlisted, we would, of course, like to get to know you as quickly as possible and will contact you to arrange a time and date for an interview. This can be either a phone interview or an interview at our premises. To find out how to reach us, go to page directions.
We will notify you about our decision as soon as possible after the interview. If your application is successful, it won't be long until you receive your contract documents in the post. Once you have sent back the signed contract, you will soon be able to start your internship at the WMF.
