Steaming inserts from WMF – steam cooking for more flavour
Steaming inserts – gentle steam cooking in every pot
Steam cooking is known as the best method of cooking for preserving your food's flavour and vitamins. Any pot can become a steamer with WMF's special steaming inserts. Steam cooking means vegetables can be as tastily prepared as side dishes or meat.
Just like a sieve – but better!
A steaming insert can turn a simple high casserole or stock pot from our selection into a steamer for cooking the healthy and gentle way. The insert is similar to a colander, except that the vents in the insert are only on the underside. The inserts have two stay-cool handles, so putting them into the matching pot and taking them out again is simple. Steaming inserts are used as follows:
Fill a suitably sized pot with the right amount of lightly salted water.
Place the steaming insert into the pot and put the vegetables or other food inside.
Close the lid and put the pot onto the stove together with the insert.
Leave the food to cook in the steam until it is ready.
WMF steaming inserts fit our pots perfectly, and pasta pots come delivered with an insert. Our special cookware, made to match the different collections, doesn't just impress with its easy handling, but its design also fits in perfectly with the design of the cookware.
What is so good about steam cooking?
Steam cooking, made possible with the help of steamers, steaming inserts or with one of our special steam cookers from the WMF assortment, gives all manner of advantages as well as increasing the nutritional value of food. Cooking food in water vapour helps preserve the valuable vitamins and minerals inside the food, as almost none of them are lost to the boiling water. In this way the dishes keep their natural flavour when cooked and are healthy and nutritious. The food is cooked thoroughly and evenly by being exposed to the steam, and does not burn or overcook. Our steaming inserts, available for the Function 4 and Gourmet Plus collections, make it possible to position the food exactly where it should be, that is to say in the hot steam!
