Steam cooking has been scientifically proven to be the healthiest way of cooking known to man. When you're preparing food in the steam cooker, you're using a simple but ingenious principle. Food isn't submerged in boiling water but is cooked in a steaming insert placed above. This method has the advantage of retaining the taste and preserving vitamins and minerals. Meat, fish and poultry can all be steam cooked, as well as vegetables. Anything that doesn't need to be fried or crispy is suitable. Another advantage of steam cooking is that because of the use of salt and spices is reduced and the use of fat almost completely eliminated, meals prepared in this way can be particularly easy to digest. Unlike in the frying pan or traditional pots, food is cooked quickly and evenly thanks to the excellent thermal conductivity of steam.
WMF steam cookers
Our steam cookers are meticulously developed and are made from sophisticated and proven materials. The frame of the steam cooker is made from our favourite material Cromargan® and is fitted with a TransTherm® universal base. This makes it suitable for all types of hob, including induction. A stay-cool handle makes it easier to handle, and the heat-resistant glass lid and built-in thermometer ensure that cooking and steaming with the special cookware will be a real joy. The perfectly designed steaming basket can be used either with or without an edge to make placing food in hot steam safer. WMF has developed the Vitalis Asia Aroma Steamer with additional insert for the special requirements that come with Asian cuisine. The advantages of multi-layer cookware: You can cook more than one thing in the steam at any one time. No need to worry about mixing up the flavours though: the hot steam isolates each individual aroma so each food retains its own distinct taste.
