As WMF knife collections and individual models are just as diverse as individual knife-sharpening requirements, in addition to various sharpening steels and knife sharpeners, WMF also offers a sharpening stone. This is primarily suited to sharpening Japanese knives, as the models in the Yari and Damasteel collections have particularly hardened blades. The WMF sharpening stone has two different textures – a rough grain (360) for grinding away irregularities and a fine grain (1,000) for subsequent polishing. The sharpening stone should be immersed in water for approx. 5–10 minutes before use. The plastic case in which the stone is placed when sharpening prevents water from getting on the worktop and ensures secure positioning. The WMF sharpening stone is 20 centimetres wide, 2.5 centimetres high and 5 centimetres deep – it thus fits perfectly in kitchen drawers, away from dust and crumbs.
