Scandinavian cuisine: Fish is still number one

Scandinavian cuisine has become one of the most popular cuisines in the world. It is known for ingredients such as berries and wild game –

and of course fish, especially in Denmark, Norway and Finland. Danish cuisine for example is very similar to what is commonly eaten in northern

Germany. For example, lobscouse is also eaten on the other side of the Flensburg border. A typical Danish dish is smørrebrød: Slices of bread with

herring, crabs, roast beef, onions, pickles and a whole host of other ingredients. The national dish however is known as torsk – cod with boiled

potatoes and mustard sauce. Norwegians on the other hand love a bit of cheap herring, salted and dried cod as well as lutefisk – dried fish that has

been soaked and then cooked.
